About Company

Narol Textile Infrastructure & Enviro Management (NTIEM) was incorporated on 25th March 2010 as a company and NTIEM is a section 8 company. The Company is engaged predominantly in providing wastewater treatment services to its member industries, all Textile Processing units, through a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP). This CETP caters to as many as 127 individual textile processing units which are mainly engaged in the processing of cotton and blended fabrics, denims, and synthetic textiles. The significance of NTIEM can be appreciated from the fact that it provides its services to the textile processing units that are spread over an area of about 500 hectares in and around Narol, Shahwadi, Ranipur, Isanpur and Piplaj areas of Ahmedabad district in the state of Gujarat. These textile processing units putting together, process about 2,800 million meters of fabric every year, generating total revenues in excess of INR 2500 crore. The exports from this cluster cater to the demand of many global regions/countries such as Europe, the United State of America (USA), the Middle East, China, Thailand, Turkey, Brazil, etc. The textile processing units directly or indirectly employ around 1.4 Lakh industries in the region.

Highlighting important infrastructural features, there are 12 collection sumps strategically located across the cluster to minimize distances. The 12 sumps receive pumped primary treated effluent from its connected member industries, varying in numbers (10 to 20). The gravity mains traverse through the entire geographical area of the cluster and receive effluent from the 12 collection sumps which ultimately leads to the CETP through gravity. A full-fledged SCADA system has been put in place to continuously monitor and supervise wastewater flow from each member unit of NTIEM. In addition to this, NTIEM has its monitoring teams that round the clock monitor the influent wastewater quality to CETP.

NTIEM has already started its journey towards achieving its goals by firstly, starting the process of up-gradation and modernization of its existing CETP. In addition to this, expansion in the capacity of existing CETP from 100 MLD to 130 MLD is already planned and necessary Consent to Establish (CTE) for the same from GPCB as well as Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) from MoEF&CC - Government of India are obtained. The work of this up-gradation project is entrusted to M/s JM Smith International LLC (JMSI) based in USA. It has experience of over 40+ years in successfully executing and operating over 500 projects in 40+ countries since 1973. With the help of their expertise, NTIEM CETP is achieving permissible outlet norms since January 2020.

Textile processing is an energy-intensive sector and the units located in the above-mentioned five areas fulfill their energy requirement by using predominantly solid fuel except for liquid fuel in some cases, causing air pollution in the area. Although all units have installed adequate Air Pollution Control Devices (APCD) and are operating the same, it is necessary to keep eye on the ambient air quality from the point of view of both, the legal requirements and social obligation towards the environment. Keeping this in view, in addition to the wastewater treatment, NTIEM is also putting its efforts to create a facility for monitoring air quality in the area. As a part of this, NTIEM has provided Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Station (CAAQMS) at Devraj Industrial Estate, Piplaj, which is located within the cluster.

NTIEM has installed more than 60 CCTV cameras at different locations within the cluster to facilitate better monitoring by the Govt. authority (Gujarat Pollution Control Board-GPCB). The control room facility with a live display of CCTV camera has been provided by NTIEM at the remotely located Regional Office of GPCB at GIDC, Vatva, Ahmedabad, to enable their officials to carry out a live inspection of the emission of each boiler stack in the cluster and subsequently take appropriate actions against the erring industrial units.

NTIEM is also involved in several other environment related activities to facilitate its member units for complying with the legal requirements.
